QAntrol uses a Role based security model for Users.
This means that each User belongs to a Role that has permissions to carry out only those Tasks that are required of them.
The Security Manager can be found at: Configuration Menu » Security Manager.
The Security Manager shows the following Main items in the list on the left:
•Users
•Operations
•Roles
By selecting each one the List on the right is populated with the items of the selection.
EG clicking on Users will display a list of ALL configured users for this Project, clicking on Roles will display a list of ALL configured Roles for this Project.
Adding / Editing a new User
Users are Contacts that are already configured that have been given access to log into QAntrol. Therefore before adding a new user you must first add all users as Contacts to a company in the Companies and Contacts section. (refer to Companies and Contacts) - these contacts are usually added under the Main Contractor's Company record, but can also be from other companies.
To add a new User first select Users from the list on the Left, then click Add and then select Add User, this will open the User Editor.
To edit an existing User first select Users from the list on the Left, then select the user to edit then click Edit.

Adding / Editing a User Role
Before a user can actually do anything in QAntrol they must be added to a Role.
To add a new Role first select the Roles item in the tree on the left and click Add and then select Add Role.
To edit an existing Role, first select the Roles item in the tree on the left, select the Role from the list on the right then click Edit.

To add Users to this role click Add on this tab and select the Users required. To remove Users from this role select the Users and click Delete on this tab.
NOTE: If you move a user from one role to another make sure you remove them from the original role after adding them to the new one. |

This is the list of available Permissions that users belonging to this role will have. Use the Add and Delete buttons to add and remove the operations.
NOTE: The ViewerOnly operation will remove ALL Editing capabilities of all the users in Role regardless of any other operation listed. Make sure you only include this operation for Roles where you want to restrict the users in that role from editing any data. |
