The Project Configuration window is where you configure all the paths and options used throughout QAntrol.
This should be one of the first things that is done on a new Project Database, as these options are Project specific.
The Project Configuration window is found at: Configuration Menu » Project Configuration.
The Project Configuration window has five tabs: Reporting Details, Documents, Date Column Groupings, Email Details, Formatting.
The Reporting Details tab has three sections: Reporting Details, Emailing Records and Scheduled Reports
Reporting Details Entry
These fields allow QAntrol to find all files required to generate the Reports and Dashboards.
Field |
Description |
---|---|
Logo File |
The path to the logo file that will be used to print a logo on all the QAntrol Reports. As with all paths in QAntrol this should be a UNC Path eg. \\SERVER\QAntrol\Logo.jpg |
Reports Path |
The path to the folder on the server that contains the Reports for this project. It is good practise to have a Standard Reports folder that all projects originally point to, and if a particular project has custom reports generated for it then it will need a separate folder. When creating a custom Reports folder for a project make sure you first copy all standard reports into the folder then overwrite the reports that have been customised. This is because QAntrol will only look in the one folder for all reports required. As with all paths in QAntrol this should be a UNC Path eg. \\SERVER\QAntrol\Standard Reports |
Dashboards Path |
The path to the folder on the server that contains the Dashboards for this project. This is same principle as the Reports Path above.
As of writing this document there are no custom Dashboards and therefore this field can more than likely be left blank. |
Emailing Records Entry
These fields control the way QAntrol handles emailing records, and whether or not to prompt the user to email new requests etc.
Field |
Description |
---|---|
Auto-Email Hold / Witness Point |
Whether or not to automatically prompt the user to email new Hold / Witness Points |
Auto-Email Delivery Instruction |
Whether or not to automatically prompt the user to email new Delivery Instructions |
Auto-Email Test Request |
Whether or not to automatically prompt the user to email new Test Requests |
Auto-Email Survey Request |
Whether or not to automatically prompt the user to email new Survey Requests |
Auto-Email Transmittal |
Whether or not to automatically prompt the user to email new Transmittals |
Auto-Email RFI |
Whether or not to automatically prompt the user to email new RFIs |
Auto-Email Letter |
Whether or not to automatically prompt the user to email new Letters |
RFI Email Requires Review 1 |
If ticked then the RFI will not be emailed unless it has Review 1 fields filled in. |
RFI Email Requires Review 2 |
If ticked then the RFI will not be emailed unless it has Review 2 fields filled in. |
Letter Email Requires Review 1 |
If ticked then the Letter will not be emailed unless it has Review 1 fields filled in. |
Letter Email Requires Review 2 |
If ticked then the Letter will not be emailed unless it has Review 2 fields filled in. |
Schedule Reports Entry
By ticking the Run Scheduled Reports tick box the QAntrol Application Service (if installed on the server) will regularly check for scheduled reports to be run and emailed to their configured distribution lists. (please refer to Report Schedules)
The Documents tab has two sections: Document Manager Details and Letter Editor Defaults.
Document Manager Details Entry
These fields allow QAntrol to maintain the Document and Drawing Repositories.
Field |
Description |
---|---|
Documents Path |
The path to the folder on the server that contains all the Documents added/uploaded to QAntrol. As with all paths in QAntrol this should be a UNC Path eg. \\SERVER\QAntrol\Documents |
Drawings Path |
The path to the folder on the server that contains all the Drawings added/uploaded to QAntrol.
If this is left blank then QAntrol will assume the Drawings folder is a Sub-folder called Drawings under the Documents folder specified above.
As with all paths in QAntrol this should be a UNC Path eg. \\SERVER\QAntrol\Drawings |
Workflow Definitions Path |
If you have special workflows defined for your project then this is the path to the folder that contains those files. Unless instructed by QAntrol Staff leave this blank. |
Repository User |
This is the user account that QAntrol will use to access the Drawings folder specified above. |
Repository User Password |
The password to the user account specified above |
Repository User Domain |
The Domain the user account specified above belongs to |
Use Inbuilt PDF Viewer |
If ticked then QAntrol will use the QAntrol PDF viewer to view PDF files. Unless you do not have access to Adobe PDF Reader it is strongly recommended that this is UNTICKED. That is to NOT use the Inbuilt PDF Viewer. |
NOTES Regarding the Repository User
If you leave the Repository User fields above blank then QAntrol will use the user account of the QAntrol user to access the Documents folder. Whilst most of the time this is not a problem, it does present a security concern in that one of those users could access that folder and delete all the document files.
It is recommended that you specify a user account in the above fields and give it Read, Write and Modify access to the Documents and Drawings folder.
Regardless of whether or not you use the Repository User fields, you must still give Read access to all QAntrol users.
Letter Editor Defaults Entry
These fields default the Letter Editor to a certain Font and a certain font size.
This tab allows you to specify how date columns are grouped in the Grids throughout QAntrol, simply change the values for the required QAntrol section and Date Column.
The Email Details tab has fields to configure how emails are sent.
Field |
Description |
---|---|
Email Type |
Options are SMTP Server (preferred option) or Outlook. Outlook requires that you have Outlook installed and accessible by QAntrol - this is not generally the case in a Terminal Server Environment such as Citrix. |
Server |
The SMTP Server name |
Port |
The Port number to use to connect to the SMTP Server |
Use SSL |
Whether to use SSL when connecting to the SMTP Server |
User |
The user account to use when connecting to the SMTP Server. If this is left blank then the connection will be made anonymously. |
Password |
The password of the User account (if used) to use when connecting to the SMTP Server |
Blind Copy Email Address |
If specified, QAntrol will use this email address as a BCC (Blind Carbon Copy) for all Emails sent via QAntrol. This is a good way to make sure you have a copy in one place of all correspondence sent via QAntrol. |
The Formatting tab has two sections: Number Formatting, and Email Subject Formatting
Number Formatting Entry
This section allows you to define how many digits to represent the different types of record numbers.
For example if you specify a Lot Number Format to have 3 digits then the Lot number will look like CAG-001, if you specified 4 digits it would look like CAG-0001.
Simply adjust the number of digits required for each record type.
Email Subject Formatting
This section allows you to define how the subject line of Emails from QAntrol are generated.
When a record is emailed from QAntrol the subject line is automatically generated based on the Record being sent.
For example a Hold Point may be required to have a subject line that includes the Hold Point Number as well as the Title.
If you require special Email Subject Line Formatting please contact the QAntrol Team for help with this.
